President Nero,
burning Christians at the stake;
power from hatred.
In chess, there are many kinds of pieces. In Fluxus Chess, the rules of engagement are not to be adhered to, strictly speaking. This is laid out in Thoreau’s, “Civil Disobedience.” If the rule of law can be broken by the law makers, then the law is no good. If the black pawn can move like a queen, then it is fair that the white pawn also may move like a queen.
But, as a pawn, I choose pawniness.
Heaven hear me, let the pieces be under Mary; I take no control.
That creature and creature duel it out; for we know which creature holds the rose. Not that I would ever admit to being such a one as this.
Mary, O Mary, take this little offering from me, the one who does not hear me; although I speak. Whose claim is fortune, but does not yet realize.
As for you, Satan, intelligence presses against your pieces; but intelligence cannot conquer Mary; for it is written that her Immaculate Heart shall triumph in the end.
O God, Yahweh, in the name of Your Son, Jesus who is called, “The Christ,” I ask of You, let Fluxus Chess begin.
Enter Anarchy.
